What’s New for the 2025 GMC Lineup?

The past couple of years have been huge for General Motors. For the 2024 model year, we saw massive updates for the GMC Canyon, GMC Acadia, and GMC Hummer EV, with new available trims and a cornucopia of added features for buyers near Pensacola to enjoy.

For next year, they’ve decided to keep on rolling out the hits, and there are tons of exciting new developments on the horizon. Here’s what we know so far about the major GMC model changes for 2025.

The 2025 GMC Terrain

As the brand’s entry-level two-row SUV, the Terrain represents a very important part of their lineup. The roomy compact crossover is one of the most affordable GMCs, making it a perfect family vehicle while still delivering the brand’s signature take on luxury features.

Like the recently updated Acadia, the 2025 Terrain boasts a more athletic stance and front fascia that’s inspired by GMC trucks like the Sierra. The full list of specs has yet to be released, but official statements from the company say that this newest generation of Terrain will have more interior space than the previous year.

Inside, shoppers will notice far more tech features, including a standard 15-inch center touch screen with Google Assistant and an 11-inch digital driver information center. A 5G Wi-Fi hotspot is also available.

New for the 2025 model, the Terrain can be optioned with eight additional camera views. More safety and driver assistance features have been added in as well, including Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Blind Zone Steering Assist.

The new Terrain’s powertrain remains similar to the outgoing model—under the hood, we find a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder with 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, as well as up to 1,500 pounds of towing capacity. However, it’s now mated to a revised 8-speed automatic transmission, and the Terrain Elevation trim will come with standard all-wheel drive at launch.

Apart from the Elevation trim, which has an official release date later this year, the 2026 GMC Terrain will roll out off-road AT4 and premium Denali trims sometime next year.

The 2025 GMC Yukon

As the brand’s flagship three-row SUV, the Yukon and Yukon XL represent the pinnacle of the brand’s luxury appointments, and the 2025 model sees a massive overhaul in standard and available features.

The cab’s first row is dominated by a massive 16.8-inch Premium GMC Infotainment Center, which is vertically oriented and allows for control of multiple apps on the same screen. An 8-inch rear climate control touch screen will also be available.

Like the Terrain and other recently updated models, the 2025 Yukon has a bolstered collection of driver assistance features, with new standard features including Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking. There’s also an available Night Vision mode that used advanced thermal detection to aid when driving in the dark.

Available Super Cruise—which is projected to allow hands-free driving on about 750,000 miles of roads across North America—will now be compatible with trailering in the 2025 Yukon. Other available trailering tech includes Blind Zone Steering Assist, Transparent Trailer View, Trailer Reverse Trajectory, and Jackknife Alert.

The base engine is still the 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Upper-level trims come standard with a robust 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and all trims can be optioned with the mighty 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel, which has 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. Max trailering for the Yukon is 8,400 pounds, while the Yukon XL can tow up to 8,200 pounds.

Residing at the top of the 2025 Yukon lineup, we find the ultra-luxury Denali Ultimate and the first-ever AT4 Ultimate trims, which come with an incredible selection of top-tier comfort and convenience features. Elevation, AT4, and Denali trims will also remain available.

The release date for the 2025 GMC Yukon is slated for the end of 2024.
